The Break In

January 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Shortly after we bought our home, and before we moved in, someone broke into our home.We did not have much in the home at the time, so they got very little.  The damage from the break-in was the biggest loss.  The perpetraitor(s) had damaged a couple of solar screens and broke a glass door.  It appears that they came into the home more than once and they most likely live nearby.

Talking to our neighbors we have discovered that our neighborhood is really quite peaceful, no one knew of any other break-ins.  Everyone we have met seems friendly; most residents seem to be generally helpful and kind.  Plenty of our neighbors have vouched for one another’s good neighborly qualities.  Nevertheless, a break-in makes it difficult to trust one’s neighbors.  Suspicion generally revolves around teenagers, young adults or some questionables that live nearby.

After the break-in, we invited the police to come over and take a look, they looked around, took some notes and said ‘welcome to the neighborhood’.
